Summary
Adora laughed once again, a sound that Catra had memorized and constantly replayed in her mind, but the memory was never the same euphoria as the real version. She wished she could bottle the sound and listen to it anytime she wanted— which was, of course, all the time. It was a ridiculous thing to think about, bottling laughter and listening to it like an idiot— but the closest thing possible was to keep sneaking to meet Adora when she definitely shouldn't, and tell her awful jokes again and again and again. Equally ridiculous, perhaps even more so, but Catra did it anyway.
(or, catra knows adora needs her, and the only way in is through the window)

Summary
“Me too,” Adrian said softly, and she forgot all about her nerves and Adrian not being Adrian, because he was in front of her now, and he was so familiar that she couldn’t think of anything except the fact that she loved him. She couldn’t think of a time when she hadn’t loved Adrian, except maybe at their very first meeting about ten years ago. Ten years. Ten years that she had loved him more than almost anyone else in the world, ten years of them falling down and helping each other get back up again, ten years of the incomparable feeling of being truly known down to the soul.

Summary
Ruby stood at the foot of her bed, her grin a little sheepish. She lowered her fist from the metal framing holding the privacy curtains, crouching down to retrieve the fallen newspaper. “Hi,” Ruby said softly, standing up once again. “I thought I would visit and see how you were doing.” She paused, glancing at the newspaper. “You’re reading about… the annual fishing festival at Hasegawa Bay? Sounds fascinating.” Danna felt an instant relief from the sound of Ruby’s voice.
Danna laughed, taking the newspaper back from Ruby. Her laughter paused and turned to nerves as their hands brushed. Danna shrugged, trying not to think about that accidental brush. “I ran out of other things to read,” she said. “Also, don’t you know that fishing is one of my secret passions?”

Summary
“Nova!” Ruby yells, catching her by surprise. Nova almost loses her balance as Ruby throws her arms around her.
“Is everything okay?” Nova asks, cautiously hugging Ruby back. The touch doesn’t shock her as much as it used to.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell us about your birthday!” Ruby says, jokingly offended. “I know we couldn’t celebrate last year, with everything… but we could have a party this year.”
Nova freezes, trying to remember the date. It’s… “Sweet rot, it’s May 26th,” she says. Ruby’s beaming face confirms it. “That means… tomorrow’s my birthday.” She completely forgot. Birthdays never really were much of a focus with the anarchists, and her presents mainly were science experiments with Leroy. Occasionally Winston would tell her a story or draw something for her, but most of the time it was just a present to eat something other than honey.
“Don’t tell me you forgot,” Ruby says. Nova shrugs.

Summary
Nova fiddled with her bracelet as she walked the familiar streets she once knew. Once, her eyes had darted around, searching for threats and scanning for exits. Once, she’d known the rooftops of the city like they were her home. Those times were long past.
It had been two years after the Battle of Gatlon, and Nova had done her best to forget everything that happened. She’d moved as far away from the city as possible, had gotten her own apartment, had lost touch with everyone she knew. She hadn’t been able to face it all: the vicious remarks made about her in the media, the sympathetic glances of her former team, the piercing glares of the other Renegades…
So she didn’t. She disappeared.

Summary
The rooftop is almost the same as it was that day at the parade. Almost. How long ago was that? A few months? It feels like much longer.
She was so close, and yet she failed. Pull the trigger, Nova. Now, if she was put in the same position again, she’s not sure what she would do.
