What right did he have to deny this simple request from Akito?

Summary
In hindsight, the evidence was right there, in the way Akito’s tail bends unnaturally at times. His familiarity with the deep sea is a little concerning, and his fins appear to glow at random intervals— the list goes on. Toya tries to not look into his strange quirks and unexplainable habits.
So really, he shouldn’t be surprised when Akito’s tail splits in half down the middle and opens up into a gaping void. Beneath his scales lie countless tentacles that have been posing as one entity.
The sight is uncanny, nightmarish, and hauntingly beautiful.
Toya lets them envelop him.
