Summary
After the trial—a neat way of describing what's really, in so few words, an execution—Jayce finds he's regressed to the most wretched iteration of himself. The one that doesn't bother with amicable grimaces and small talk. Skips the whole gamut of social niceties broken into him by degrees and goes straight to the scalpel-cut critique and door in the face.
It's a nescessary evil. The alternative is admitting he's started to become the sort of person to care.

Jayce goes looking for Viktor in the aftermath of the trial. It changes nothing.

Summary
Konoha sits locked up behind the Wall, built as a bulwark against the invading, otherworldly forces known as bijuu. Doctor Kabuto Yakushi, born into a world fighting an unwinnable war, does as most ordinary people do: he doesn't think about it.
After taking on a live-in position as physician to a reclusive naturalist, he's expecting to treat chemical burns and animal bites, at worst. Orochimaru's servants are unpleasant; his sickly ward's deterioration kept at bay by experimental chemical treatments. Orochimaru himself is enigmatic, compelling, and—one month into Kabuto's service—plagued by a strange injury that refuses to heal. Denied answers at every turn, Kabuto takes matters into his own hands. What he finds is something that threatens to consume Konoha entirely from within—if it doesn't consume him first.
