“Did I ever say I loved you, Suguru? What would someone like you have to offer me? I was bored, that’s it.” Gojo’s eyes shone, bluer than the noon sky that hung heavy and unforgiving above them.
“If this is about your parents—”
“What didn’t you understand?” Gojo interrupted again, mouth set, voice cold and unfamiliar. The gingko tree wavered behind him. “You meant nothing.”
The words felt like a curse. And while he might have always suspected a dissonance between them, the lives they carried, the truth was more than Geto could handle. So he turned away. The sky drained from overbright to pale, and Geto never looked back.
“Goodbye, Satoru.”
Six years have passed since that April day in 2008 when Geto Suguru looked away from Gojo Satoru. But that was high school, and Geto has moved on in every way that matters: a bachelors in chemistry from Kyoto University, then a masters, before finally returning to Tokyo for his PhD. Gojo Satoru is nothing more than an achy memory — until he appears in Geto’s lab, and everything goes awry.
