Summary
And he couldn’t do it tonight, he just couldn’t face an empty, quiet apartment tonight. He thought he had adjusted to it again -- he lived without you once, after all -- but the thought of going home tonight and you not being there, waiting for him, well, that--
His eyes flick upward when he hears the deadbolt slide, the chain unhook, the doorknob twist. All happening so swiftly, as if maybe you’re glad to see him, maybe he’s reading into it, but none of that matters because the point is you open the door.
And you look-- Jesus, you look just as beautiful as the day you left him.
