"Oh God, does he have amnesia? Combeferre's voice sounds anxious like it almost never does and Enjolras has already opened his mouth to respond before it occurs to him that he didn't see Ferre's lips move."
Enjolras develops telepathy after a head injury at one of Les Amis rallies. He has to come to terms with suddenly being able to read his friends' most private thoughts--especially those of Grantaire, who was also hurt in the rally.

“First of all, I need you to believe me.” Grantaire's tone was more somber than anything Enjolras was used to hearing out of him.
“...Yes,” Enjolras said, concern bleeding into his tone. His mind flipped through dozens of scenarios, each one worse than the last, in quick succession. “Of course I will.”
“Okay.” Grantaire sighed and ran his hand through his hair as if steeling himself for something. A bold line of black ink on his wrist became briefly visible when the sleeve of his sweater pulled back with the movement. Enjolras knew that it was the tip of the tail of the dragon tattoo wrapped around his arm. “Have you ever seen Groundhog Day?”

“No, my prince. Not yet.” He says it with such tenderness that Rudolf’s heart instinctively flutters, even as frustrated tears threaten to spill over.
“But—” Rudolf doesn’t think he can wait much longer. He can’t fight, either this sickness that’s lingered for weeks or the one he knows is eating away at his body and sanity. “Please.”
This time, Death takes Rudolf’s hand. Brings it to his lips, kissing it gently, touching it against his icy cheek.
“I said not yet, my sweet thing.” That’s the first time he’s called Rudolf something other than my prince. Death so rarely uses his name. “I told you before, didn’t I — the shadows are getting longer. You are still needed to hold them back.”

He can't exactly turn up at the nearest police station. Nina? She'd be utterly useless, a squawking mess, without the first idea of how to find her way through a first aid kit. It'd be even worse if Adam was with her, as he probably was. Hertford Street would mean drawing attention to himself, Tiger wasn't talking to him anymore, and Aggie was quite out of the question - she likely wasn’t home, even at this hour, and if she was it would take a marching band to raise her. It needs to be somewhere close, somewhere inconspicuous, somewhere with rubbing alcohol and bandages. The name comes to him too easily. It’s a terrible idea, but he has to go somewhere, for God's sake, and it’s the best his battered brain can come up with on short notice.
He misses the turning at least twice before he finally collapses on the right doorstep, trembling fingers jamming at the doorbell. Eventually the door opens a crack, a familiar face appearing around the frame.
