“A Rebuild Project,” Tooru says. “Of course.”
Sugawara shrugs. “What’s the point of a rumor if you can’t ride it to a better story?”
“You want me to sell it,” Tooru says. “I’ll sell it.”
“Good.” Sugawara pauses, then adds, softer, “And do the other part, too?”
“Which is?”
“Not being impossible,” Sugawara says, lips curving like he means it kindly. “Apologize to your Seeker before you ask him to smile on camera.”
“Right.”
Sugawara’s eyebrows lift in surprise. “Right?”
“Don’t look so shocked. I can be humble.” He grimaces before adding, “When necessary.
“And today it is?”
He doesn’t answer. He doesn’t need to. Sugawara knows the shape of yes when he hears it.
“Then I’ll draft permits,” Sugawara says. “You draft the world.”
“Efficient,” Tooru murmurs, too fond.
“Go be charming, Captain,” Sugawara says, already planning three steps ahead in the faint lean of his shoulders. “I’ll build the hinge.”
OR: Oikawa Tooru is the charming, untouchable captain of the Slytherin quidditch team. Sugawara Koushi is the only person who sees through his persona.

Summary
As the two turn around to head back into the inn, still chatting amongst themselves, Oikawa heaves a sigh of relief. He’s not sure why that whole conversation was so difficult to watch, or why he was tensed the entire time, but at least it’s over now.
And then Sugawara turns his head at just the last moment, catching his eye. He gives him a knowing smile right before he and Iwaizumi enter the inn, and Oikawa’s world tilts off axis.
A terse lump forms in his throat. “I—” he begins, hate you already on the tip of his tongue, but the syllables don’t form.
“—wish I could hate you,” comes out instead, raw and honest and brimming with agony.
or, when sugawara transfers to seijoh in their second year, oikawa’s entire life is thrown for a loop—he detests, loses his bearings, falls hard enough to break his spine, and most of all, learns to love

Summary
For as long as Suga has known them, Oikawa has been sending Iwaizumi postcards. They mostly carry short messages, just brief little love notes really, from wherever Oikawa is currently traveling for one volleyball tournament or another.
It’s a sweet gesture, Suga has always thought. He never thinks that he’ll be on the receiving end of them.
Or, some postcards that Oikawa sends to Iwaizumi during the 2018 Volleyball Nations League tournament, and some postcards he sends to Suga.
