“Have you cleared your schedule for the holidays?”
“What holidays?” Dio’s head pops up from being buried in documents upon hearing the question from his cousin, Nine. He almost forgets he answered the call while he is reviewing decisions from lower courts. The groan that comes after is accompanied by the shuffling of papers; he can imagine Nine in the office of his own company, being drowned by reports.
To be fair, he is aware of the holidays, especially when you live in a country where Christmas celebrations start three months ahead. Apparently, though, for Dio, now The Honourable Judge of a Regional Trial Court, work gets more chaotic when the country is about to go into a festive season.
“I mean yeah, of course, of course. I did that.” He lies through gritted teeth as he motions for his assistant to show him his schedule. He almost winces when he sees the amount of red, and those are not the holiday type of red. Sure, the courtroom will be closed, but that doesn’t mean there are no papers to sign, documents to review, and evidence to compile.
