Summary
“What are you doing here?” He asks, coming to stand beside the man who towers over him, powerful and strong even when he’s worn down to the bone and weighted with a world of burdens he never shares.
Always the commander, rarely just another man. Levi tilts his head up in an attempt to catch a gaze that will not meet his own.
“I was waiting for you.” Erwin says, voice soft, the crack in the mask that leaves Levi waiting on bated breath for something more– because when Erwin speaks it sounds like some kind of admission, like he is telling him something secret and forbidden.

Summary
The way Erwin’s gaze suddenly lashes into Levi is bruising. He swallows, rubs at his wrist as if slapped. He looks away, because he doesn’t have to see it, that look. He’s not obligated. What right does Erwin have to demand anything of him? What does a prince of the land have over a creature of the sea?
“Apologies, your highness.” He mutters. He imagines flinging that stupid book into the sea.
a prequel to "coronation"

Summary
“You said you’d come.” Levi responds, almost petulant, defensive. He has been waiting a long time. It’s shameful, how long he’d wait. Through hunger, yes. Through headaches, and exhaustion, and pain. He’d watch the walls and the palace behind it crumble into dust and a new world rise in its wake before he’d stop. But Erwin has never broken a promise before. Why should tonight be any different? Why tonight, when it might be their last? “You said you’d come tonight.”
Erwin smiles, one of the soft smiles he always gives to Levi. It does not reach his eyes. If Levi were human, he would let himself drown.

Summary
“You really let this place fall to shit when you’re alone. It’s a bad look, Commander.” Somehow life goes on, cruel and unfair as ever. Somehow, it’s been three days of monotonous self-loathing and the door to his office is suddenly wide open, though Erwin knows he had locked it. Shutting out the world is one thing, something he learned and honed long before accepting the title of Commander. Shutting out Levi is another thing entirely, almost impossible and decidedly not worth the astounding amount of effort it would take to try.

Levi is something of a godsend and every time Erwin feels himself slipping, Levi is there waiting to catch him.
