When he was fourteen years old, Izuku Midoriya learnt that the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world there was only one of him. The evil in this world is not a little red man with a barbed tail and horns. The evil in this world lies in plain sight. You can see it plastered on billboards, hidden in alleyways, or across the hall. It’s an intrinsic revelation; to see that Evil is an inexcusable thing, yet indispensable at the same time. It shall always be a primitive concept, that Evil and Peace shall always go hand in hand, encased in an eternal battle of constancy, fighting one another until the last flicker of life putters out from the Earth. At fourteen years old, Izuku Midoriya learnt that to devote yourself to that lost cause, to try and ensure endless peace or endless evil, is to devote yourself to death. But you can try. That’s all Izuku needs. Even if it costs him everything, he’ll try.
