For sixteen years, the aetheric ship known as the Subtler Than Light has rested where it crashed in Venice Beach, reluctant to part with its secrets. But there are many--teleporting demon monkeys, clever red-feathered raptors, sinister supervillains, and others--still keen to get those secrets, and they're no longer patient.

Summary
A barista at a coffee shop frequented by supervillains decides to investigate some of her clients outside of work.
This is an original work, for a certain value of "original". It was written for and posted on Superguy, a venerable listserv for superhero based stories created in the 80s and, sadly, abandoned now, although its archives remain intact.
