Summary
Sunglasses on. Headscarf wrapped. Far too thick coat on.
Cho-Hee glanced around quickly, eyes flitting around. Her heart beat fast. Her eyelids blinked quickly. Her mouth was dry.
She still swallowed, though it felt like she was swallowing air more than her own saliva. Her darkened room reeked, with curtains drawn over every window. No light was on.
It just made her feel watched anyway.
A sudden message pinged and Cho-Hee looked down at the shining screen.
Are you ready to leave, darling?
It was her husband, Ha-Joon. Except he wasn’t just her husband. The woman breathed out shakily, a scoff accompanying the exhale. He was so, so, so much more. Cho-Hee didn’t even realize she was crying, until she felt the stickiness on her cheeks and tears staining her eyelashes.
He was so much bigger, and as much as she loathed to admit it, and more important than their insignificant relationship. Her hair flopped down almost as listlessly as she was feeling, as she left her apartment.
