“Right….when I l-left….I didn't - I didn't leave thinking that I'll find someone better than you. That's - that's impossible, Tae. I just….I wanted to find someone better for myself.” Jeongguk confesses.
There's a brief silence after he says these words.
It's suffocating.“So…did you succeed?” Taehyung finally asks, his voice barely over a whisper.
Jeongguk finally dares to lift his gaze to match the elder’s eyes. It's void. It looks numb.
But the bitter smile resting on the corner of Taehyung’s lips speaks for itself.How was Jeongguk supposed to answer that? He had no idea. So he just passes him a brief nod before walking away - again.
