Renjun looks at Mark so much, he begins to feel like he knows him as well as his own reflection in a mirror. Some days, Mark stares past Renjun like he can hardly stand to look at him. Some days, his gaze is soft, and falls upon Renjun like the first few gentle flakes of snow.
When Renjun feels affection for him like this, he knows he paints him better. He thinks maybe it hurts them both, every time he brings the brush to the canvas.

Summary
Renjun waits until Chenle is taking a sip of his tea to tell him, “I’m sleeping with my husband."
Chenle doesn’t quite do a spit-take, but he does start sputtering. “That’s great,” he says, once he recovers. The look on his face says otherwise. “I’m happy for you."
It is kind of great, actually. Or it would be, if Renjun hadn't married Mark for the sole purpose of keeping his visa.
Or: Within the span of one year Mark and Renjun go from being strangers, to friends, to friends with benefits, to lovers. Throughout it all, they're husbands.

“aw.”
mark side eyes him. “it’s not very cute when all I’ve ever wanted is…” he trails off. he doesn’t even know what he wants.
“hmm?”
“I don’t know. to be seen as an equal by him.”
renjun laughs.
“what?”
he shrugs. “nothing.” but he’s smirking.
mark whines, hitting renjun’s arm. “no, tell me.”
renjun looks at him. “I used to want to be seen as an equal by someone, too.”
