Summary
If you asked Taki when the last time he cried was, he couldn't tell you. He may be an expressive guy, always wearing his heart on his sleeve, but he doesn't cry often.
Now if you asked Taki when was the time he cried the hardest, he could pinpoint the exact memory and location. To this day it remained fresh on his mind like the first fruit offerings of the season.
Like most things, it started with Kei.

Seungmin is a magical girl. He has a cool wand that he gets to wave around to transform oufits while he does a little twirl. The neighborhood ahjummas adore him and pinch his cheeks after he helps bring them groceries to their apartments. He even volunteers at his local library and reads to kids during story time because he's a super cool hero to anyone under the age of 10.
To Minho, he's just a guy in a frilly dress who saves his cat from a tree from time to time.

It's like a record scratch played in Minho's head as he looked up at Seungmin mid-bite into croissant, crumbs all over his face. He can recall Seungmin reaching out to brush the crumbs off Minho's cheeks, face so adorned with affection.

“Do I talk in my sleep?” Nico asks Euijoo one day.
Euijoo purses her lips, considering this for a moment. “No, I don’t think so,” she says. “At least, I’ve never heard you saying anything. Why do you ask?”
“Just curious,” Nico says lightly.
She has to check, just to make sure. She’s worked so hard to keep her secret from Euijoo so far and doesn’t want to ruin it with something stupid like that. Living so close to her feels dangerous. Makes it worse, like there’s no room behind her ribcage for anything else besides her heart.

By the end of the week, Taki has just sort of accepted that he was wrong. It’s not an uncommon thing, after all. He’s wrong about stuff all the time.
So he figures it’s the truth: he and Yuma are dating. He must have forgotten the exact moment their dynamic shifted, which is kind of a bummer, but it’s fine. It’s whatever. It’s not a big deal.

Nicholas hadn’t planned to do it. Not here, not like this with grease on his fingers and a soda can sweating on the table. But looking at Euijoo, across from him in the dim halo of Taipei’s streetlights, eyes soft and smile steady, something in his chest cracked open. There was no perfect moment. There was only this one.
“Lets get married." The words slipped out before he could catch them.
Euijoo blinked. “What?”
Nicholas sat up straighter, eyes wide, like he couldn’t believe he’d actually said it.

He’s always given Euijoo rings - plastic ones from claw machines, matching ones copied straight from their favourite movie, and delicate little pieces the younger never took off. But now Nicholas finds himself holding a ring that’s different from all the others.
