The high energy from a few moments ago had now dissipated, and the only things An knew right at that moment were the pounding of her heart, the electric buzz of the streetlights that had now turned on, the warmth in her cheeks, and that what she wanted was selfish. Say yes.
In the most crucial moment, her words failed her. Maybe if she said it out loud, it would be true. She cast her gaze away, too uncertain, too afraid. If she said yes, what would happen to them? Surely this was all a trick. Someone dared him to ask, or something like that.
An is too used to hiding from her feelings and running away from her problems. And when Akito decides to be upfront about his own, she wonders if it's okay for her to take the risk as well.
Even if one day, it all disappears.
