But that shirt. Joaquín, he’d put it on that morning in the office after spilling his goddamn coffee on his white one, that was his shirt.
“…Joaquín?” Sam’s voice came out as a whisper, near hoarse, his eyebrows shot up, mouth parted as his gaze was unwavering on the child.
The kid looks up, eyes widening, and promptly bursts into tears.
Joaquín is forced back to the age of eight, which brings forth the past and its demons that should’ve stayed buried. Sam tries to wrangle them as best he can, all while protecting his boy.

Summary
Benji’s learnt is that all it takes is one mission to knock a screw loose. But it doesn’t matter how well you can shoot a gun, or drive a car, or pretend to be somebody else – if the agency has even the shadow of a doubt that you might absolutely lose your shit during it, then you’re a liability.
