“So you essentially want me to bring him back down to earth, by breaking his heart?”
“Can’t break what doesn’t exist.” Sirius spits out bitterly.
“Sirius--”
“Please James,” he says earnestly, “you’d win the bet and everything. I just want my brother back.”
“I-I get that, but I’m just not sure how I would be able to help.”
“He looks up to you.” Sirius replies, “you’re the only one who can.”
James Potter finds out his days on earth are numbered, so, in light of being (painfully) single, his friends hatch a bet to find out if he can win somebody's heart by the end of the school year. On a whim, Sirius suggests he try it with his hated and untrusting little brother, Regulus. There's just one problem. Sirius believes the budding romance between them is all for show. "Oh, come on," a voice from the other side of a bookshelf whispered excitedly. "Have you not seen the way James has been looking at him?"
James?
The stranger suddenly had Regulus' full attention.
"I mean, to me, he looks at him the same way he always has," a second voice joined.
"And how has he always looked at him, then?" they questioned.
Who are they talking about? Regulus wondered, far too nosy for his own good.
"I assume just as his best mate's little brother, and not much else."
What?
Or, Regulus keeps hearing people talk about how James Potter fancies him, and discovers some rather similar things about himself along the way.
