Summary
He is out of breath when he reaches the lockers' floor, eyes sweeping the corridor ahead with the frenzy of small animals, their twitchy hearts racing as if constantly hunted down. Shane lets out a loud, shaky exhale when he finally sees him.
Ilya is standing on the other side of the dim hallway, the crude light of his phone on his face making him stand out, almost ghastly in the dark. He is leaning against the wall by the green exit sign, frowning, and biting his lips.
Shane doesn’t call his name. He flies to him like a moth to a flame.

Summary
Viktor’s gaze flickers back to him as the waves break against the sand, white-edged and lazy. They look at each other, as if standing on two opposite sides of an ocean, and Jayce is just as tragic, just as beautiful as the shore is. Grey, and tired in that peculiar light; scared, undoubtedly, in some inexplicable way.
Viktor blinks and steps into the sun. He can feel it shine on his face.
“Will you tell me, now? About that nightmare?” he asks.
There’s a deep intake of air; a wide, bright spell stretching across the line where they stand. Two strides that feel like nothing—like the end of the world—before Jayce holds him. His hands come up, knuckles brushing against Viktor’s face. Wind and salt, and his heart caught halfway. A gasp that doesn’t spill.
“Jayce,” he says, and he does sound like he’s outrun a boat, an army, to make it here. It’s a prying open, spine and bones to reach for something Viktor never thought he would be asked to give. He whispers, “Jayce, what are you doing?”
Or - Jayce gets one more chance to fix it.
