When she walks up to the hospital bassinet, she’s small and red and swaddled up.
“You look like a little ladybug.” Heather says quietly, not wanting to wake her up.
The newborn lets out a little noise of contentment, and then a giant yawn.
Smiling, she whispers, “I think I’ll call you Lilybug.”
A small smile grows on Lily’s face. And although Heather knows otherwise, she always swears that smile was for her.
