Summary
After a rebellion strikes the Boryeo Dynasty, Jimin, as the empress, is forced to flee the palace while the emperor, Jungkook, is left to deal with the enemy. He's distraught having lost everything and barely alive. His friends and protectors have died and all he has left is the child in his womb. Unfortunately, his misery doesn't end when he gets captured by the rebels only to witness Jungkook getting killed right before his eyes. With no desire to be forced into a marriage with the new emperor, the rebellion leader, he takes his own life in hopes to reunite with his mate. It should have been the end, so why does Jimin suddenly find himself alive with some strange contraptions attached to his body in an unfamiliar bed? And why is Jungkook, who he thought was dead, sitting next to him looking both shocked and relieved?

Jimin felt his throat hitch a sudden urge to cry invading his senses, didn’t understand why that one phrase suddenly had such an effect on him. He was getting dizzy and dazed as he turned to look in the direction of one of the corridors that was strangely empty. Statues of porcelain in the huge room and huge paintings bigger than any of the ones he’d seen before. The voice seemed to come from that direction and as though his body had a mind of its own, his feet began to move towards there, sense of urgency and desperation motivating him.

Maybe if Jungkook’s father had been more merciful things could have been different. Maybe if the man had been more kind, the boy would have gotten married to a good strong alpha. Maybe even have kids. He would have been happy, and his father would have been praised. Maybe then Jungkook wouldn’t have presented as an omega.
