There was Will—alive!—on his knees, his eyes rolled back, arms held out like he was Atlas holding up the heavens, his skin gleaming gold in the heat of the flames surrounding him.
Holy shit.
Their eyes finally locked, and Mike’s chest tightened, his breath heavy with the weight of being alive for no reason other than that this boy in front of him loved him enough to overpower his literal demons so he could stop time itself and snatch him away from certain death. Mike was in complete and utter awe.

We pick up where vol 1 ends, and Mike and Will go back to the Wheeler house to recover from the events of that night...

Summary
Detention on the last Saturday of senior year is reserved for students who have really fumbled at the finish line. These soon-to-be graduates of Hawkins High have to spend this time finishing missing assignments, helping the prom committee regardless of interest in such a thing, and... oh, yeah. Speaking to each other for the first time in six months.
This is going to be a long day.
