the figure’s head snapped up, revealing sharp blue-gray eyes that gleamed faintly in the moonlight.
“yeah, well,” the woman muttered, her voice rough but laced with a strange, casual confidence, “you’ve got a nice tree. figured i’d borrow it for a bit.”
caitlyn’s gaze narrowed as she stepped closer. the woman’s auburn hair was cropped short, unruly, and there was an undeniable wildness to her—soft patches of fur brushing against her skin, faint but telling.
“do you make a habit of lingering on strangers’ property?” caitlyn asked, stopping a safe distance away.
the woman shrugged, the motion lazy. “depends. do you make a habit of letting strangers linger?”

“Stop it.” Caitlyn shook her head, not even knowing why she was giving the girl her time, “Don’t you dare. I should do something about that behavior of yours.”
“Oh, I’ve no doubt about that. You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” The drunk’s tone was lighthearted as she raised her head to look into Caitlyn’s eyes, “You can have your fun with me, sweetheart. I’ll promise you that.”
Caitlyn just stood there, mouth agape. So much for not playing games. “And how exactly would that work, Vi?”
“Well, cupcake, we’d have to figure that out in the mean time.”

"I'll stitch you up when you are back to consciousness" she mumbled, completely wrapped up in the dressing of the wound. So much so that she did not notice the voice that addressed her, at first.
A female voice with a very distinct American accent. The voice sounded exhausted, parched, low, but strong.
"If you're talking to me, you're going to have to speak English sweetheart"
Caitlyn's eyes widened as she looked up from dressing the wound and cerulean eyes found the greyest ones she had ever seen, sending a rush through her that she was unfamiliar with.
Then, Caitlyn spoke.
English this time, laced with a light French accent.
"I told you your wound would need to be stitched up when you were to wake" she simply informed her, ignoring how heart her started pounding yet again.

During the summer of 1943, Caitlyn rescues US Air Force pilot Violet McAdams from a plane wreck in the French country side, and decides to hide her on her farm to allow her wounds to heal properly.
Neither of them in prepared for the romance that follows this foolish, yet courageous decision.

“Please, bring it on.” Caitlyn returned the smirk “You may have gotten a lucky start, but we’ll see if you can keep it up.”
Vi’s smile was one of amusement, mischief and something else lingering at the bottom of it all, something she couldn’t quite name.“Guess we’ll find out soon enough.” she replied, a competitive fire sparking underneath.
For a moment, the room felt smaller, as if the two of them were the only ones in it. Beneath the smug remarks, a crackling tension that neither seemed to be entirely aware of was starting. It added an extra layer to every word, every glance.
The moderator stepped in to guide the session to the next question, but the energy between the two remained electric. Everyone watching, whether in the room or on the live broadcast, could feel it. This wasn’t just some petty rivalry. It was something else entirely.
Or F1 prodigy Caitlyn Kiramman’s reign is threatened by a certain fiery redhead speeding her way into history (consequently falling for her).
