In a wood on the estate of the Viscount Cobham of Hagley Hall four local boys hunting quail had found a woman’s skeleton in a wych elm tree.

"We hired a new lawyer, his name is Eddie Diaz and he’s going to be working in the new office next door. I’m reassigning you to work with him until he gets his bearings, maybe longer if everything works out.”
“What do you mean you’re reassigning me?” Buck asks, his world crumbling around him at this new life-altering decree. “I’m your secretary.”

In which Buck cannot stand the new lawyer he's been assigned to at Grant-Nash Law Offices, no matter how brilliant and charming he seems to be, and Eddie is honestly just trying to get to the end of this day in one piece.

"You’re acting like you’re not going to have to miss me,” Buck says, pressing the bruise. “Like I’ll be able to come over whenever I want, crash at your place when I get too tired, like you’re not leaving the timezone.”
“Yeah, well I’m trying to keep you in my life,” Eddie bites out, “and you’re acting like this is some kind of permanent goodbye.”
“This is goodbye, Eddie,” Buck retorts, his jaw tense. “You’re leaving.”

Maddie’s not there.
Thank God or the universe or whatever occasionally looks Buck’s way and decides to lend his loved ones a hand.
Eddie is there, after he'd swapped shifts with Linda so she could go to her cousin’s graduation party. The one day he works when he's not supposed to, an electrical fire caused by some kind of overload takes out all of Dispatch.
Buck and Lucy are on the second floor when Captain Mehta's voice filters through the radio, urging them to evacuate. Lucy takes the third floor, despite the order.
