    Summary

In the Abyss of Despair, forgotten creatures—including Pierrot, Harlequin, Jester, Doctor, Ticket Taker, and Colombia—suffer eternal hunger. Eladio, a ruined slave trader, discovers them and offers food in exchange for work. He builds a circus exhibiting the monsters.

Audiences tire of watching; they demand violence. Whips, hot irons, starvation follow. Eladio invites spectators to personally torment the weakened creatures.

Suffering awakens something new: thought, emotion, a dangerous wish—"What if we became human? No one would hurt us then."

The green-eyed creature refuses to cower, declaring before the crowd: "I want to be human."

The audience laughs. But in darkness, all their eyes glow in unison. Eladio steps back in fear.

The monsters are awakening—hungry for more than food.
