When James tells Thomas his story, he makes sure he listens carefully. Thomas, being a good husband, takes it upon himself to write letters to those James hurt, and those James loves. The letters, with James' blessing, make their way into Anne Bonny, Max, Madi, and Jack Rackham's hands safely.
There is, however, one letter that James does not know about.
This is, of course, how he ends up with John Silver at his doorstep, heart in his hands, whether John knows it or not.
