Summary
Eren didn't want to die, but his existence was just one of those shitty things that had to leave this world, and perhaps for the better. After all, all things, good and bad, inevitably come to an end. Or at least that's what he believed.
Despite all the suffering he inflicted upon the living world, he carried out his plan to save his loved ones, eradicating the titans in the process and saving everyone. Ymir saw this as a heroic deed and wanted to give Eren one last chance to see if things may have turned out differently, because she felt bad for him and his unfortunate fate. She turned back time using her titan powers, making it so that younger Eren had memories of him and the future, in the hopes that he would find a way to act differently and minimize the tragedies.
Eren, now aware of the future, acts carefully to alter it and save everyone. Deciding that staying close with Mikasa may be part of the issue, he distances himself, turning to the second most reliable person he knows; Levi. The two work together to save the world, and in the process, they get extremely close and a spark lights between them.

Summary
Tricked into perpetrating the Rumbling under the false belief he would protect his loved ones by doing so, Eren is left in a field of blood and destruction with only Levi at his side; the last survivor of a bitter war, but still able to show compassion to a dying monster. His last wish: to have the chance to do things over, and to do better next time. Like before, The Paths respond to the will of the wielder of the source of all creation. Eren wakes up back in his ten-year-old body, memories intact, with the full intention of doing things over and protecting the Walls. There will be no Rumbling, but the war which transpires might turn out to be worse.
