Summary
Shane and Ilya haven’t spoken to each other since they broke up over a misunderstanding at the 2017 All-Stars game. Ilya was traded from Boston to LA and they both tried to move on. But, in December of 2019, when Ilya ends up on injury reserve, he decides to make an unannounced trip to Montreal. He could have never foreseen the global pandemic just around the corner of that decision, and as the world crumbles around them, they find themselves isolated at the cottage for the longest offseason of their lives.

What happens when the systems you have carefully built to keep yourself hidden and emotionally regulated are no longer available to you? What happens when the identity you built your life around becomes the thing you must let go of? What happens when isolation exposes the truth about yourself and everyone around you and there’s nowhere else to hide? What does Shane do then? What does Ilya do then? Summary
Shane Hollander never got that concussion, and Ilya Rozanov breaks up with him. Shortly after, Shane suffers a career ending injury. They don’t speak again.
Of course, stories don’t end like that. At least not theirs. When Shane adopts a little girl with familiar curls and deep blue eyes, Shane writes letters to Ilya, imagining he was with him, raising the girl together.
Movers get things mixed up. Letters get sent. And after 4 years of no contact, Ilya moves to Ottawa to see Shane again. The only question is—will Shane let him in? Or is he still just as scared as he was in 2017?
