Summary
"Therese reached behind her and pulled out a thick sheaf of what appeared to be folded sheets of writing paper, tied in a ribbon. “'These are for you, finally.'”
The letters Therese writes to Carol, between their first meeting and their road trip. Referenced in and follows immediately after my story "The Longest Day, Getting Here." Referenced of course "The Price of Salt," though we get just a few lines from them. Movie timeline/canon, book canon for more details. Events from "Holding Hands" also referenced.
ETA: And if you're wondering if Carol would respond, well, yes, yes she would.

Summary
...Carol took a deep breath. “It’s like we forget how to talk to each other, when things are hard,” she said quietly with a shake of her head. “Me too. I forget how to talk to you. I do what I’ve always done. I shut down and reach out to Abby. It’s all I’ve known to do, all these years. All I had..."
A few months after the Oak Room, our dear heroines unexpectedly fight, revealing there is still unfinished business between them. How will they survive this longest day?
This story references moments in two of my other stories, "A Perpetual Sunrise" and "Holding Hands." Not totally necessary to read those, but you might if you haven't. :-)

Summary
In my story "Holding Hands" Carol makes reference to a "careless" incident with Abby that left a scar on her right middle knuckle. A commenter wanted to know the story, so, well, here you go. Enjoy!

Summary
Carol and Therese leave NY on Christmas and arrive in Waterloo on New Year's Eve. I wondered what happened during all those hours of the road trip we don't see on screen, and this is the story that unfolded. Film canon, with some book influence for background. Carol's POV, because I also wondered what was going on in her head, including in scenes we do see, and what prompted her to leave the way she did in Chicago, which is where this story ends (but thank goodness the film/book do not!).
