After decades as a celebrity, riding the highs and lows of public opinion, Kerry’s sense for what separates a concerning stalker from the rest was well and truly shot. As a general rule, though, he considered an unmarked jewelry box with a severed ear mounted inside sufficient cause for worry.

Summary
“Why’d you change them? Your eyes, I mean.”
Kerry almost missed the distant question – called out to him from a room away – over the clanging of pots and pans.
“Uh, what?” he hollered back, clearly distracted and a few seconds too late. V rounded the corner, a finger tucked between the pages of ‘Live Free or Eurodyne: An Unauthorized Biography of a Chromatic Rock God’.
“Your eyes,” V repeated, watching him like a hawk. He leaned against the wall, as relaxed and impossible to read as ever. “They were brown before. Why’d you change them?”

Despite running there as fast as his legs could carry him, Stede has managed to build himself a lovely little life in St. Augustine. He tends the lighthouse, hawks his oranges on the weekend, and buys far more books than his humble salary can afford. In fact, he might have been happy to live that way forever, were it not for the message in a bottle that washed up on shore.

Summary
After all the terrible business with the ring was said and done, and all the great stories of the affair were finished being told, there was a day when - at an age much older and riper than he frankly would have liked to bother with being - Bilbo passed on to the next realm.
Decades before that, and with far too much left unsaid, Thorin Oakenshield had done the same.
Now, whether due to the fumblings of Fate or the meddling of the Valar themselves, they each awoke - miles from each other, returned to the start of their quest, and certain they were entirely alone in the matter. -
