“Are you done yet?” Bucky asked, mostly to egg Sam on rather than to actually know.
Of course, his teasing worked–as Sam was lunging back towards him in a matter of seconds. This time, instead of raising his hands up to protect himself, Bucky lowered them down to Sam’s hips–grabbing at them to keep the man close to his chest.
Sam immediately fell into the touch, bringing his hands up to tangle in Bucky’s long hair and slamming their lips together–the force of it so violent that it caused Bucky’s injured lip to split open once again, blood spilling out of it and mixing with spit throughout both of their mouths.

All eyes turned to Joaquín then, wide open. But Sam is the one who said, “Huh?”
“Yeah, huh?” the colonel weighed in.
Joaquín looked a little insecure now, eyes landing on Sam’s and staying there, his the only reaction he cared about. “I mean, I live like 20 minutes from here, I’m clean, and I snore like a fairy taking a little nap on a flower petal.”
A little part of Sam’s heart warmed at that, unable to help a small smile.
“Don’t you wanna fuck this man?”

A recurring nightmare materializes before his eyes.
In most of Bucky's dreams, he is a young man falling from a train and crashing into crisp snow, a heavy thud, then haunting silence. In the rest of those dreams, Sam plummets to earth, wingless, then breaks. He tells himself often that they’re only dreams, that Sam is capable and skilled far beyond any combat-abled civilian he’s ever known. He reminds himself each time Sam’s in a fight that the suit is more than sufficient protection, that every fiber of vibranium absorbs impact and directs it away from Sam. Away. That had been his first and foremost request to Ayo. Always away.
But Sam’s not wearing vibranium today.
