Summary
“I just wanted to talk to you about…how I feel about somebody. I really really like this person. But this person doesn’t know I like them. I’ve known them for a while, and we’ve grown very close. I care about them a lot and I would love to be more than friends with them.” Rumi exhales, carefully gauging Mira’s reaction.
Her face is blank. No expression giving away how she feels or what she’s thinking. There’s a beat of silence before Mira opens her mouth. “You’ve known them a while? Who is it?” Mira questions with no more than a slight twitch in her eyebrow.
“You know them very well.” Rumi says, leaning forward slightly, tingling with anticipation and fear.
Mira’s face remains a painfully blank canvas. She doesn’t move and neither does Rumi. The air feels like it’s getting heavier and heavier with each second that goes by.
“Oh. Alright. Hope it goes well.” Mira utters in an incredible even tone, before turning abruptly and walking away briskly, leaving Rumi standing in her doorway with a confused expression plastered on her face.OR
Rumi wants to tell Mira how she feels but Mira thinks she's talking about someone else.
