Summary
When the sheer effort of pretending to be someone else got all too much, Jo would hike the wild coastal paths above the white cliffs, and whisper into the wind.
“My name is Jo. My name is Jo.”
------
This is the companion piece to Regrets collect like old friends. I had always planned to write this story from Jo's perspective but I had a wobble about it so shelved it for a little while. But for the two (2) people who requested it, here it is.
Title once again from Shake it out by Florence because that whole song is written about Jo and Kate, you can't convince me otherwise.

Summary
So, it could have been Jo. But it wasn’t.
It was the sea spray, she decided. A mirage. And a memory better forgotten, of a police cap pulled low and just a little too big.
--------------------
I was meant to be writing something else this week, so of course a new Flemson idea popped into my head. Set after season 6, this is the five times Kate thought it was Jo, and the one time it was.
The title is from Shake it Out by our queen Florence.

Summary
"This sounds ridiculous but someone keeps nicking the lights.”
“The lights?”
“Yeah, the Christmas lights.”
----
This is a Hanukkah and Christmas gift for josdefencelaywer, authorette, lemonjelly and seakali, my beloved coven of grannies. Thanks for being the most supportive and hilarious group of pals this little Aussie could ever wish for. I'm grateful for the light you all bring into my life every single day.
But this is for all the flemson fans too, thanks for reading, commenting, sending DMs on Twitter and generally just being a caring, super talented bunch. You might recognise yourself and your creations as this story goes on.
It’ll be five chapters I think, and you probably don’t need to have read Private lives first, although it might help.
I’m continuing the Private lives theme and borrowing some more characters from some of my other favourite shows, this is the Christmas ensemble movie of my mind.
I know this can be a hard time of the year for many and the next little while is not going to be the easiest for me, but I hope this will bring a bit of joy to you all.

Summary
Jo closes her eyes as her heart sinks, but she can practically feel the way Kate is trying not to look like she’s eavesdropping through the kitchen door. Jo knows she needs to keep it together and get out from under her gaze.
“No rest for the wicked, I’m afraid. Could we pick this up tomorrow?”
Kate’s still staring at her like she’s trying to pull an old memory out of the space between them, but then it breaks, and her smile returns.
“Of course, just give us a call beforehand to make sure we’re here.”
----
Or the noir-ish re-imagining of season 6 where Kate has set up as a private detective, and DCI Jo Davidson has a mystery for her to solve.

Summary
“Oh, right, so now you have all the skills for modern warfare, is that it?” Kate grinned. “How do you get into a sport like that?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know, Fleming.” Jo had no idea what she was doing, and it certainly wasn’t the way she intended to prepare for her Olympics debut, a moment 15 years in the making.
--
Or, the one where swimming champion Kate Fleming learns a lot about modern pentathlon and falls in love along the way.

Summary
"Did you mean what you said this morning? That you might stay?”
Jo looked at her directly. “Why shouldn’t I?”
“Because it’s not your home!” Kate cried in exasperation.
“What makes a home though, really?” Jo’s stillness was unnerving.
--
Or, a post 6x07 fic where Jo does witness protection in Australia, and two years later Kate goes to tell her that it's safe to come home.
