Summary
Gao Tu put it to his lips and drank. It burned its way, his tongue and his bottom lip and the roof of his mouth, and burned all the way down his throat and into his stomach. “This is the best tea I’ve ever tasted,” he said, and meant it. Shen Wenlang didn’t smile.
“I can imagine,” he said. His eyes flicked over Gao Tu’s form. “You’ve lost some weight.”
“I want more,” he told Shen Wenlang, his voice growing stronger.
“No,” Shen Wenlang said, flat and uncompromising.
“Please—”
“No. If you have any more, you will be sick.” Shen Wenlang’s tone implied that by ‘sick’, he meant dead, and there was not going to be any arguing. Gao Tu, though he could have screamed, got the idea, and went quiet, sipping his tea.

“And I don't know if you've noticed,” Wenlang huffs, shakes his head again, “but for whatever reason, my parents like you.”
“Everyone likes me,” Gao Tu smirks back.

“You know,” Wenlang leans down close to him, so he doesn't have to strain his voice yelling too much over the music, “if me being here is making you uncomfortable...”
“No,” Gao Tu affirms, drinking in Wenlang's body heat and the alpha smell leaking off of him – typically he's not this close to an alpha he doesn't know unless they're trying to pull him over the bar, so it's not something he's used to. And it's true – that Gao Tu doesn't mind Wenlang being there, not at all. Scary, yes. But uncomfortable isn't the word Gao Tu would use to describe their situation.

Wenlang smiles at him, his full set of teeth on display, and cocks his head to the side. “Have I made you uncomfortable?”
The omega hesitates before answering. This is dangerous ground to tread on with alphas, he's heard – the truth that the alpha might not want to hear, or the lie that he'll hear in his heartbeat anyway; the only difference is that with the lie, he might feel as though Gao Tu was respecting him enough to not just blurt out his true negative feelings all over the place.
He scratches at the side of his face for a second. “Um...kinda?”
