    There are three kinds of soulmates, and Tony has known from the day he was born that his soul-mark above his heart meant his soulmate would be his own child someday in the future. When Peter is born with a matching mark above his heart, Tony worries about what that means for him. Peter is 7 when Tony gets kidnapped in Afghanistan. He’s only home for a month and trying to figure out all the complex emotions of what happened to him when Peter disappears. Tony locks himself in his lab for 4 years, waiting for the return of his son. For four years Peter’s been bullied in school and felt completely isolated, moving from place to place with May and Ben Parker. For four years Peter has told teachers, neighbors, whoever would listen that he’s been kidnapped, and that his name is Peter, not Ben. No one believes him until he meets Ned. Peter had had a soulmate once… his father, but his soul-mark had been burned off. He wishes more than anything that he could figure out who his parents were and if they were still alive. In a confusing world where May and Ben tell him every day that he’s confused about the details of his life, Peter only knows one thing for certain: he knows his name is Peter.

    Peter Parker knows that Tony Stark is his father. He knows and hates him for it. With nowhere left to go, Peter goes to Stark Tower to inform Mr. Stark that he’s Peter’s father but is thrown out of the tower by security without seeing Tony. Peter Parker needs help. Who is this kid that showed up at the tower? Tony needs answers. What does he know about raising a kid? How the hell is he supposed to help a son he just discovered he had sort through trauma when Tony’s been stuffing his own stress and trauma down for years? Tony knows one thing for certain: he doesn’t want Peter to grow up to be like him… to stuff all of the crap he’s been through down and end up pushing everyone around him away. Well shit… that means Tony will have to lead by example.

    Peter has been through a lot. He’s been through the kind of things that change a person. He’s bitter and sarcastic. Peter has to find his way back to who he once was with the help of a man he’s known about his entire life, but has never known.

    Peter tries not to stare at the black eye patch. He focuses on Fury's heartbeat instead, slow and steady, not giving anything away. Still, Peter can tell the man isn't buying that he's ignorant about who he is.

    "I have a mission for you, Spider Man."

    Peter's own heart rate picks up a little. Tony has always told him to be wary of SHIELD. "A mission?"

    "Save Tony Stark."

    Peter's heart starts to pound so hard it hurts. He grimaces, realizing that his dad hasn't been truthful with him. "He isn't away on a really long business trip, is he."

    "No," Fury says, sounding displeased, "he's not."

    OR

    Tony is being blackmailed into living side by side with the man that nearly killed him in a cave in Siberia, and he's not doing well. Bruce is doing his best to help his friend, and Fury sends Peter in to keep Tony sane long enough to figure out who is blackmailing him so he can get him out. **Story is complete, and 2-3 chapters per week will be posted until it's all up.**

    Roll the tapes back to 2008, just as Tony Stark went missing. Only this time, the story goes slightly differently because when Tony ends up in that cave in Afghanistan, it's not just alongside Ho Yinsen. This time, he has a reason from within to fight to get back home, and when he does, he's certainly not the Tony Stark the world or his friends remembered -- and he's also not alone.

    This is not an original concept, but I wanted to try my hand at rewriting the MCU if Peter was Tony's biological son and had been in the cave with Tony the whole time.
