About the title: The Courtesan (King Rio's Assassin)
Throughout history kings have been known to have a wife for official purposes, then a mistrsses for pleasure and matters of the heart. The most skilled mistresses were known as courtesans. One of the most famous examples in history is Anne Boleyn. She demured, manuevered, and connived her way into Henry VIII's heart, bed, then throne. Beth is Rio's Anne Boleyn. Will he marry her, behead her, or both in the end?
All men of power come to a reckoning at least once in their lives. Some decide to fully give into their egos and make themselves little gods with no limits on their pursuits for power. Others are brought back down to earth by obligations to family, friends, community, or country.
Three bullets to the shoulder, spleen, and lung might also do the trick.
What happens when a man in power has his head turned by the ultimate courtesan... one with strawberry blonde hair, a signet of pearls, and a propensity for violence?
