Summary
The Brook/Van Rhijn/Forte clan decamp to Montauk, trying to quarantine together in a bigger space with fresher air, away from the crowded streets of pandemic-era New York. The people who have bought that absolute monstrosity next door have the same idea, much to Aunt Agnes’s horror.
Marian, staring down the barrel of her late twenties, is at loose ends — sick of her situationship with Tom, unsure of where her career is really going, looking to break the rules for the first time in her life — just at a time when there have never been so many rules in her life.
Larry is finally ready to step out of his father’s shadow — but no one wants to invest in a startup when the world is falling apart. He’s sick of having his life grind to a halt just when he thought it was starting.
Aunt Ada becomes obsessed with with family genealogy. Uncle Luke perfects his sourdough. Aunt Agnes buys a Peloton. Bertha considers starting a lifestyle blog. George keeps telling his employees that they are all in this together. And Marian and Larry start wishing that they weren’t living in a time with so many rules about touching.

Meanwhile, determined that his cousin not sacrifice her happiness for him, Oscar tracks Maud down, with a third solution in mind. Good thing he doesn't tell anyone in New York about his plans. Clear communication would make everything much too easy.
