Summary
In general, Carol has decided she doesn’t like to think about the what-ifs, or possibilities. Possibilities are different now, more concrete. If Carol wanted, Zosia would move them to a remote Mediterranean island and wear see-through linen dresses and make her endless gin cocktails and let Carol fuck her on a sun lounger until neither of them could stand. They could do that for as long as it took for the hive to figure out how to get Carol to join them without using her stem cells. They could do that for as long as it took Carol to figure out how to stop them from wanting to do it at all.

Summary
Carol set down her cheese cube. "The what?"
"'Recipes from Wycaro.'"
"There's a cookbook. Of my fictional world. Where people eat hardtack and salted pork and occasionally each other when supplies run low."
"There's a recipe for 'Lucasia's Sunset Stew,' according to Val."
"I've never written about a sunset stew. I've never written about any stew. I don't think I've used the word 'stew' in four books."
"And yet."This fic contains: one deeply anxious author, one competent wife in a pink suit, one podcast host whose warmth switches off like a light, one earnest production assistant named Jake, mid-roll HelloFresh ads, a candle called "Main Character Energy," moons that were never named across four books, and the sentence "stay hydrated" used as an autograph. It also contains explicit sexual content because apparently that's where my brain went after writing about the horrors of publicity.
