Helena Culsdottír was only a child when Hydra noticed her.
It was the skills she possessed at such a young age that drew so much attention.
Helena perfectly fit the criteria Hydra sought in their pursuit of creating the perfect weapon. Her raw talent laid the foundation of a lethal operative, and Hydra saw in her the potential they needed. All that remained was to mold her into the obedient tool they envisioned.
They sent her to the infamous Red Room so she could be molded into the weapon they desired to possess.
