The man laughs. "I'm here to save you," he says, and it sounds almost mocking. He crouches down, leaning in close, and his face is just as Kaeya remembers. The contained rage, the bare hints of insanity, the pain that had been buried for far far too long.
For a moment, Kaeya is ten years old again, in an unfamiliar land, far too aware that everyone wants him dead.
All these years, and nothing has changed.
