"Mike had been wanting to talk to Will for well over a year now—they used to confide in each other for everything—but, each time he tried, each time he tried to fathom words, his voice wouldn't reach past his throat. The last time any honest words had passed between them, it was in a room full of people, some of whom barely knew them, who didn't even know Will—not as Mike did, at least. He'd tried to talk to Will afterwards, but there was no time—and when there was time, Mike had no sense."
