Astarion shifted at his side, pressing lips to Gale’s cheeks. The human let his eyes ease open. He couldn’t see much in the darkness, just the gleam of Astarion’s dark eyes and the lightness of his hair. He could feel when Astarion moved his hands to cradle Gale’s head, dextrous fingers combing through unruly brown hair. “What’s keeping you up then? I hope not me.”
Gale smiled at him, letting his eyes close again at the sensation of fingers massaging his scalp. “It would be a joy to remain awake always in your presence. It would prevent me from missing a moment of your beauty.”

Astarion stared down at his hand, thrust it into the spot of sun coming through the window, and watched the cold flesh on it burn rapidly at the touch of light.
He could only hold it there for a moment, no longer, and when he drew it back he frowned unhappily at the crispiness to once soft skin. The pain in his hand at the sensation of the burn grounded him for the time being.
