Summary
In 212 AC, Daemon Blackfyre crossed the narrow sea dreaming of dragons and a golden crown. His attempt to reclaim his father's throne, however, ended in disaster (as told in George R.R. Martin's short story 'The Mystery Knight'). Many of his allies were put to death while Daemon himself was carried off to King's Landing by Lord Brynden Rivers, the Hand of the King. Bloodraven, as he was known throughout the Seven Kingdoms, hoped to deter his half-brother Bittersteel from crowning one of Daemon's brothers by keeping the young pretender alive. Barely anything is known about Daemon's seven-year captivity in the red keep. This fanfic aims to fill in the blanks, and tells the story of a young man who dreamed of being king, trying to come to terms with his captivity while navigating the turbulent court of Aerys I Targaryen, haunted by dreams of the future, and memories of the past. Characters from canon such as Aerys himself, Bloodraven, and Elaena Targaryen, the unofficial master of coin, will make an appearance.
