Summary
Tucked against Nick’s chest, hidden from the evil that mulled this earth, he was warm.
And there were no words that could deny his affection, ever again, if he’d ever doubted it. -

Summary
Ellis could handle a scratch. A burn? Easy fix. Nerve pinched? He knew exactly where to ease the ache. Stretching and exercise was always a big part of Ellis' job, knowing how mechanics have to twist their bodies to fix vehicles.
He wasn't even a stranger to falls. Ladders and coordination are a gamble. Learning how to fix his own injuries were a whole other story; the bandage always falling off minutes after due to his sweating problem, which was also due to the warmth of being in that jumpsuit and moving around.
Ellis was, though, a stranger to heights.

Summary
The smell of apocalypse has clung to him since they left. That smell of the ends of cigarettes stay engraved in Nick's fingertips in the way campfire smoke clings to a sweater even days after being there, like glitter to a sidewalk that you walk over every day.
He is not fond of this scent. Given his days of living off of only that, cigarettes and cheap liquor, that bitter taste and sickening burn is no stranger to him.
A stranger he sees everywhere. A stranger, never a stranger, and always there at the same time in the form of a lost friend.- Language:
