It starts slowly. Mildly.
First, it's a cough, then, it's a cough with blood. When pieces of solid matter begin to crowd the scarlet puddles Lan Wangji spits, he begins to realise his golden core cannot do anything.
"Xiongzhang, I think I have a disease," he says to Lan Xichen one day, after breakfast in the dining hall. Then, he falls into his arms unconscious.
