Summary
The feelings weren't always there and that is something that Lewis Nixon reminds himself of often. He reminds himself during stolen glances and lingering touches and conversations that get too personal. There was a time when the feelings that were clouding his judgment and making his dreams turn into anxiety attacks were simply feelings of friendship and comradery—knowing that he had a best friend who had his back and who would help to make sure that Lew made it home to his wife and baby. Those days were gone now but he tried not to think about that part of it. Those days had existed and that was what he had to hold onto. The days before he fell in love with Dick Winters.
