    Summary

Sunday is shadow-stepping day. Daiya wakes up early to relive her favorites of the memories she’s borrowed that week.
    ...
It shouldn’t hurt anyone, and she’s giving them back anyway, so it’s not stealing. It’s like a library. So as long as she follows her rules she doesn’t have to worry about feeling bad.

Daiya borrows memories from her family and friends. It's no big deal; they're small memories and she always returns them soon enough. But Daiya has another, hidden collection of memories stolen from strangers. She doesn't know who they belong to, so she can't step into their shadows and return them. They're a source of shame that she figures she's stuck with forever.

But Josuke has a knack for uncovering secrets, and a frustratingly strong moral compass when it comes to stealing memories. And Daiya would do anything for his approval, even if it means she has to enlist help of a very unlikely ally to make things right.

    Summary

Vampires can sleep for a long time, but not forever. They wake when their body wants to feed. If they are hungry, slumber is fitful and temporary.

Dio sleeps and wakes, sleeps and wakes. He tests the lid of the coffin each time, pushing, punching, kicking. He’d thought his strength was limitless, but he’s useless against the crushing pressure on the ocean floor. Jonathan’s head watches blankly - tauntingly - from the corner.

    He's trapped.

Dio Brando, buried alive at the bottom of the ocean, reflects on his situation.

When it does, she doesn’t see each piece fall until it hits the ground.

The Higashikata family keeps a lot of secrets, even from each other. A series of vignettes from Hato Higashikata's perspective, before and during Jojolion canon.

    Summary

Something about the sky in Morioh makes his thoughts turn inward. It’s absurd, really - he has more distractions than ever here. He’s searching for that damn serial killer and handling the mess of new Stand users he’s left behind in his wake, dealing with Josuke’s existence. And, as always, his academic work.

He should have no space or time to think so much - more than usual - about his past.

Something about the sky in Morioh makes him feel watched. By who, or what, he doesn’t know - he has so many ghosts by now they could fill a theater as his audience, enemies and allies all together.

Various little in-between scenes and thoughts from Jotaro’s perspective during the events of Diamond is Unbreakable.

    Summary

Giorno knelt shivering in the pool of Bucciarati’s blood.

    The pool of his blood.

    Something occurred to him.

Mere minutes ago, he’d created a new instance of Coco Jumbo, the tortoise, with exact precision - it’s Stand was even replicated - from his ladybug brooch. Gold Experience had replicated its brain structure as well - likely it would behave exactly as the original would, memories and all. All he’d needed were some cells from it to use as a blueprint.

He could create a frog that jumps, a bird that flies, a tortoise that slowly ambles onward. Why not a human being that speaks and fights and dreams? A human is just another type of animal, after all. And if he could recreate a tortoise...

He might be able to recreate Bucciarati.

Giorno arrives just a moment too late to save Bucciarati from death. But he’d been able to create a perfect copy of the Coco Jumbo that looked and acted just like the original. In his despair, he gets a new idea - can he do the same with a human being?

And once he learns he can, can he stop?

A collection of lost puzzle pieces from different boxes, jammed together to form a picture that doesn’t make sense, that nobody asked for.

Josuke ruminates about his past and present. He asks a few questions, but will he get any answers?

    Summary

Kaato married Norisuke Higashikata knowing he expected her to die.

He hadn’t said it in so many words, of course. But the way he spoke about his mother’s sacrifice was heavy not just with grief, but implication. He’d told her about the details of his family’s curse right after they’d gotten engaged, as well as the “custom” of self-sacrifice - “naturally occurring”, Norisuke said, as if it were something like a weather pattern, unchangeable. A cruelly passive phrase, denying the pain and desperation of the choices his ancestors had had to make.

Kaato had seen it for what it was instantly, of course. She had always believed in free will.

    Summary

Bruno Bucciarati’s heart wasn’t beating. He recognized the unnaturally still feeling from the brief time his heart had been stopped on the train, but this time there was no panic, no agony. No rush of adrenaline in his chest, no drop of fear and urgency in his stomach. When he picked up the still-unconscious Trish, he realized that his fingers had no feeling - he had to look down to make sure he was holding her stably. As he ran out of San Giorgio Maggiore, there was no quickened pulse, no prickle of sweat, no feeling of exertion.

When he placed Trish into the boat, it occurred to him that since Giorno had healed him, he had only been breathing before speaking. Otherwise, he hadn’t needed to.

He was certain he was dead.

Bruno Bucciarati learns how it feels to be dead, and how it feels to be alive.

    Summary

Trish Una was a scared teenager who owned nothing but her name, the clothes on her back, and a knife hidden in her boot. She wanted to curl up in the corner and hide. But she had been trying to act like she thought another Trish Una might act, one whose father was a mafia boss, one who was a little mean and didn’t feel ashamed, one who wasn’t afraid of anything. She squared her shoulders, raised her chin, and pushed open the doors.

Trish Una’s entire life has been stolen from her. Thrown into a world she doesn’t understand, surrounded by strangers.

What happens in the quiet moments between the fights? She waits, she worries, she watches those around her. And gets to know them, if only a little.
