Summary
Mingyu didn’t even glance at Wonwoo and continued to stare into the abyss. He was shaking. The usual cocky, overconfident, and stupidly handsome smile was gone. Wonwoo could feel that something was wrong. He frowned. Mingyu turned to face Wonwoo.
“Before I start our grand speech,” said Mingyu, voice trembling. “I would like to say something.” Mingyu’s expression was one Wonwoo has never seen before, nervous, vulnerable, and hopeful.
“I can’t keep pretending,” Mingyu whispered, but loud enough for the entire gymnasium to hear.
Wonwoo's breath hitched.
“I like you. I’ve liked you for a long time, Wonwoo,” his name slipped off of Mingyu’s lips effortlessly. “Longer than I should’ve admitted.”
Silence filled the gym. Wonwoo’s heart stopped.
“I love you.”
Mingyu had dropped the mic. After the shock had passed, some whistled in congratulations, some laughed thinking it was a joke, and most people clapped for them. But Wonwoo couldn’t hear any of it, only replaying Mingyu’s words in his head. Time has stopped.
