Suguru did want to be bonded. To Satoru specifically. Life was very cruel that way. “I do,” he said. “I was just thinking about how we didn’t even really get a choice.”

Summary
The knocking continued persistently as he went to unlock it. It stopped when he heard the click, and then Suguru was opening the door.
Satoru barreled through the door as soon as the knob turned, as though he also had a hand on it, pushing it open. Suguru scrambled back from the door, and Satoru threw himself into Suguru’s arms with so much force that Suguru stumbled a few steps until his back hit the wall.
“Holy shit, Satoru,” he shouted, hands coming up to grasp his arms. “You animal, what the hell are you doing!”

Suguru and Satoru had been best friends since childhood. Suguru is in love with him, and that complicates things.

As a PhD in Physics, Satoru Gojo had pictured a crisp, easy career path for himself: CERN, Non-Perturbative Structure of Infinities research, Oxford, papers in journals.
Instead, he accepts a job he’s either underqualified—or absurdly overqualified—for at a shadowy Global Intelligence Agency™. He’s brilliant at it, but brilliance doesn’t shield him from the kind of suffering no textbook ever covered: life.or: the one where satoru works for the government (multiple governments?), at a surveillance capitalist meta-analytic authority that treats his brain like a storage drive—but he doesn’t care, because a ripped, heavily tattooed suguru geto is his boss.
