“Did it ever occur to you that maybe I slept with Haarlep for more than information?” Edonya asked, glaring up at him, shaking her head from the memory that Astarion had accidentally conjured between the two. Grief. He saw it. He felt it. Her grief felt similar to the gnawing in his own chest…but he wasn’t…he shouldn’t grieve, he…No. Astarion’s jaw clenched. He was a powerful vampire now. He shouldn’t feel anything. Edonya didn’t try to push him any further. Her fingers lingered on his chest. “Maybe I slept with Haarlep out of curiosity. Maybe it was just for fun. Maybe it was just to get back at you for being the biggest, most detestable piece of shit I have ever—” Astarion had enough. His hand curled around her throat quickly as he kissed her roughly.
“Little love, you speak too much.” Astarion growled in a husky tone, barely pulling away from her lips as he spoke.

Edonya’s eyes opened when everything went silent. Her eyes immediately searched for his. The lights slowly faded from the floor until the only thing glowing was Astarion. Edonya watched with bated breath as Astarion seemed to emit red magical energy, breathing heavily, but otherwise looking…fine. Edonya took a hesitant step toward him, but Karlach’s hand was still holding on to her wrist.
She wanted him happy, and…maybe happiness cost 7,000 souls.
